The Mathematics Bridging Course is an intensive two-week course aimed at revising mathematics required in the study of quantitative subjects. The course covers core topics of pre-calculus and calculus and includes advanced techniques and applications.

Course outline

Delivered in person at our Sydney CBD campus, this course includes daily tutorials that include explanations of the main ideas of the considered topics

  • Across the two-week course, students will attend for 3 hours per day, for a total of 30 hours
  • Tutorials will include typical examples within the topics of pre-calculus and calculus, with step-by-step guidance of the solutions provided.

Course learning objectives

By the end of this course, students should have increased confidence in maths and be better prepared for quantitative subjects, including mathematics, statistics and science subjects.

Requirements

Mandatory

  • It is expected that students will have completed Mathematics Advanced (formerly 2-Unit Mathematics) in years 11 or 12 or equivalent.
  • Students will be required to download and print the skeleton notes for classes. These notes are available by logging into your UTS Open Dashboard and launching your online course materials.

Who is this course for?

This course is not suitable for students who completed Mathematics Standard 1 or Mathematics Standard 2 (formerly General Mathematics) in their HSC, and did not complete Mathematics Advanced (formerly 2-Unit Mathematics) in years 11 or 12.
