In today's fast-paced and rapidly evolving business environment, companies must constantly adapt and upskill their workforce to stay competitive. To address this challenge, learning and development (L&D) programs have become critical for organisational success. But what does best practice L&D look like in 2023? To answer this question, PLUS UTS recently hosted a webinar featuring industry experts who shared their insights and case studies on best practice.

The webinar was moderated by Fiona Anson, the Head of Enterprise Learning at UTS. Anne Le Blanc, a Senior Principal Workforce Solutions Consultant at Mercer, provided her perspective on the latest L&D trends and best practices. Brendan Hill, the L&D Lead at nbn Australia, shared his experience in developing and implementing successful programs within his organisation. Natalia Nikolova, from UTS's Plus UTS Business Futures, contributed her expertise on innovative learning methodologies. Finally, Jonathan Stevenson, a Senior Field Enablement Manager at Microsoft, discussed the company's approach to L&D and how it has evolved over the years.

Throughout the webinar, the panelists discussed the importance of creating a learning culture within organisations and the role of leadership in supporting and championing L&D initiatives. They also highlighted the need for programs to be personalised and tailored to the needs of individual employees, and how technology can enable this personalisation at scale. Additionally, the panelists emphasised the value of collaboration and cross-functional learning, where employees from different departments and functions can learn from each other and bring diverse perspectives to problem-solving.

The webinar also featured several case studies on best practice L&D, including Microsoft's culture of always-on learning, nbn Australia's "Learning Days," and Telstra's partnership with universities to build microcredentials. These case studies provided practical examples of how L&D programs can be designed and implemented for maximum impact.

Overall, the webinar provided a wealth of insights and best practices for organisations looking to develop and improve their L&D programs. By investing in their workforce and embracing a culture of continuous learning, companies can ensure that they are equipped to meet the challenges of today's business landscape and thrive in the years to come.
