This Cisco Instructor Training Course prepares candidates to become instructor-accredited and eligible to teach Cisco Networking Academy’s CCNAv7: Switching, Routing, and Wireless Essentials (SRWE) course. This 5-day course covers all the required technical and administrative elements of the Cisco instructor role, and trains and assesses candidates for them to be accredited to teach the corresponding course at Cisco Networking Academies.

The CCNA series instructor training courses are designed for candidates who wish to be able to teach the corresponding CCNA courses. In particular, this CCNA SRWE Instructor Training course has been designed to:

  • Equip candidates with all the required technical, pedagogical and administrative skills for teaching the CCNA v7 SRWE course
  • Prepare candidates who have completed a recent version of the CCNA ITN course to become instructor-accredited and eligible to teach the corresponding CCNA v7 SRWE course.

Course outline

This course will be delivered as a 5-day face-to-face training course in one of the Internetworking Labs at UTS. It contains workshop-style tutorial sessions delivered on campus on real hardware with the last half-day purely assessments and feedback.

This will include the following key Instructor elements:

  • Technical requirements to teach the CCNAv7 SRWE
  • Use of Packet Tracer for instruction, practice and assessment.

Potential Instructors will be required to complete the following to pass the course:

  • Demonstrate their knowledge and skills of the course for Instruction. This includes passing a Written Exam, a hardware based Skills-based Asessement (SBA) and the Cisco’s SRWE online Final Exam (with a score of 80%+).
  • Orally present one or two topics from a selected list for the other members of the group to evaluate.

The full cost for the course is $1,500 plus GST. Please check with the trainers for the modules and activities covered in each session, as well as the detailed assessment structure.

Course learning objectives

Completion of the CCNAv7 SRWE Instructor Training Course at UTS will make trainees eligible to teach the corresponding CCNAv7 SRWE course at Cisco Networking Academies.

Please note that this is not a UTS guarantee of employment for successful trainees.

Requirements

Mandatory

Candidates must have passed the CCNAv6 or v7 Introduction to Networks (ITN) Instructor Training.

Desired

It will be assumed that the potential Instructor is familiar with the CCNAv7 SRWE content by having worked through the materials found at Cisco NetAcad website (https://www.netacad.com) for the relevant Instructor Course.

Before attending the CCNA Instructor training, it is expected that all Instructor Candidates:

  • Will be instructed about accessing the Cisco NetAcad website to successfully locate the curriculum and all online testing materials. Candidates need to contact the trainers for the login account upon course registration.
  • Will have worked through the materials found at Cisco NetAcad website for the Instructor Course.
  • Will have read the CCNAv7 SRWE online curriculum and attempted all online module exams before the commencement of the course.

Who is this course for?

This course is for candidates who are interested in certifying as instructors to be able to teach at Cisco Networking Academies. You may be a casual academic or HDR student at UTS or another institute, or a member of the Cisco Networking Academy community.
