Course outline
This course comprises the following content:
- Module 1 - outlines what AI is, unpacks the features of various AI models, and considers how different AI models can be best used
- Module 2 - sets out how the legal profession is interacting with AI, covering how clients are using or being impacted by AI, relevant laws that impact AI use, and provides a skills deep dive on prompt engineering for generative AI
- Module 3 - summarises the risks and harms posed by AI, and the key factors legal professionals need to consider when developing safe and responsible AI systems
- Module 4 - sets out the basics of how to responsibly use AI in your legal practice, including by making sure you are compliant with your professional legal and ethical obligations.

- The risks and harms posed by AI
- Legal and ethical obligations applying to AI

Mandatory
To complete this online course, you will need a personal computer with adequate internet access and sufficient software and bandwidth to support web conferencing. You will also require an operating system with a web browser compatible with Canvas and Zoom.
