Research and Evaluation Manager – Community Engagement and Impact Team, Centre for Social Justice and Inclusion

Hannah has 20-years experience working in government, community and NFP settings in Australia. With a background in social work, her evaluation approach is trauma-informed, participatory and culturally responsive.

Hannah is passionate about evaluation in community engagement contexts and has an interest in demystifying evaluation so it is more accessible to all. She has significant expertise in evaluation capacity building, facilitating workshops and coaching individuals in evaluation.

About this course

This course is designed for individuals who are new to evaluation, who wish to discover how they might apply evaluation when working alongside community members or other key stakeholders. Participants will be introduced to three powerful tools that will help to plan an evaluation for a program, project or other initiative.

Course outline

This online, self-paced course requires you to engage with written content and then apply learnings through a range of interactive activities. Templates and activities will help you to apply knowledge learned in your own work context.

The format includes a light-touch teacher presence through video-content in each of the modules, where the course expert outlines the key themes of each module.

There is no interaction during the course with other course participants and there are no pre-readings or prerequisites required.

The course is estimated to take around 4-hours, which may vary depending on how familiar participants are with the content.

Three modules will be covered during the course:

  • Module 1 - Evaluation
  • Module 2 - Community engagement and evaluation
  • Module 3 - Evaluation tools - theory of change, program logic and data/evaluation matrix.

Key themes visited during the course include evaluation, community engagement, participatory evaluation and evaluation tools.

Course learning objectives

Upon successful completion of this course, participants should have a foundational understanding of evaluation, comprehend the intersection between evaluation and community engagement and be able to plan a real-world evaluation using three powerful evaluation tools.
