SHORT COURSE

Enhancing local government service delivery

Be strategic and prepared for change. Delivery of services in local government is shifting. Community expectations will affect services throughout councils. This course provides research, case studies, tools and skills to meet these changes.

About this course

Delivery of services has transformed over recent decades. Councils have moved beyond a traditional emphasis on property towards broader objectives to promote the social, economic, environmental and cultural well-being of their communities. More than ever, councils are looking for ways to ensure the services they provide are relevant to their communities and are financially sustainable. In this course, you will learn methods for reviewing and enhancing local government services and expand your knowledge and understanding of what is involved in service delivery at the local level.

Course Structure

This course has been designed to help meet the contemporary challenges of local government through building understanding and skills in reviewing and transforming service delivery. You will be provided with the tools to consider future shifts in delivering services in a practical and measured manner and gain access to a range of research, studies, reports and case studies. This is an excellent way to balance your practical experience with theoretical knowledge with the support of academics and contemporaries.

The course runs over five days with presentations, facilitated discussions and group workshops.

The course will cover:

  • What is local government service delivery?
  • Service modes and models
  • Service delivery challenges
