This course will provide participants with the essential knowledge and skills to both manage a project end-to-end, and/or, be an effective and valuable member of the project team.

About this course

Project management is a dynamic discipline that brings together the various skills and capabilities required to effectively deliver new products, services and infrastructure, as well as implement new systems and processes to effect change. Key components of this discipline include planning, coordinating, budgeting and evaluating large-scale projects, as well as managing the risks and the people involved.

Course structure

The course covers the fundamental steps in every project’s life cycle and uses a real-life case study approach to follow a project from conception through to completion and final review.

The following content will be covered during the course:

  • Project roles and responsibilities
  • PM tools, terminology and techniques
  • Key phases of a project
  • How to create project schedules, plans and deliverables
  • How to manage risk.

Learning outcomes

By the end of this one-day course, you will:

  • Understand your role and responsibilities within a project and how you can contribute to its successful completion
  • Develop skills in project management: learning terminology, tools and techniques
  • Understand the key phases of a project and the importance of each
  • Understand the key functions of a project and their interactions
  • Contribute to the development of project schedules, plans and deliverables
  • Take responsibility for your own part in a project and work towards achieving agreed deadlines within a set budget and timeframe
  • Recognise the importance of proactively identifying and managing potential problems and risks within a project.
