This Algebra and Functions bridging course will cover:
Bridging courses are short intensive courses designed for high school students entering tertiary study. It is for students who are not confident with their preparation for university study, or who may not meet the assumed knowledge requirements.
Bridging courses only teach to an introductory level and may assist in narrowing the gap between high school and university studies. Subjects taught in bridging courses do not carry any credit towards your degree.
Mathematics bridging courses aim to develop mathematical skills for tertiary study and to help students become familiar with the academic language of maths.
Lectures followed by tutorials will run for three hours each day for five days.
Students wil be provided with step-by-step guidance of solutions to exercises.
Presenters are mathematics lecturers from UTS Science.
At the end of the course, students will have an increased confidence in maths and be better prepared for maths subjects.
Students attending the Algebra and Functions Bridging Course will have to purchase the Mathematics Bridging Book. You will only need to purchase one book, even if you are attending more than one maths bridging course.
This course is suitable for students who studied General Mathematics in the HSC and are enrolling in courses in business, biological sciences or building and architecture.
This course is primarily designed for students who have NOT studied Year 11 or Year 12 Mathematics (2 unit).
