About this course

The most important assets in any business include the intellectual property you create and commercialisation of your IP can be at the heart of your strategy. During this UTS short course, leading and experienced professionals and academics will take you into the world of intellectual property.

The valuation of trade marks, patents and other intellectual property is central to any balance sheet. You will explore leveraging and licensing IP including trade secrets, patents for potent commercial outcome and the scope and effect of licensing and assignment agreements. You will also hear about the enforcement and protection of these vital assets.

You will be guided through the issues of selecting the legal structures to hold your IP. The value of IP can be protected by registration and assigned for development by licensing and these critical transactions will receive detailed analysis. This course will provide all commercial legal advisors, IP, patent and trade mark specialists with essential guidance from experienced, leading practitioners.

Course learning objectives

This short course will equip participants with:
