About this course

In this online on-demand course, HWL Ebsworth partner Gary Newton discusses the implications of recent cases in retail and commercial leasing. He discusses issues including:

  • False and misleading conduct in a disclosure statement in a retail lease

  • Guarantors failing to sign a retail lease

  • Lessor withholding consent to an assignment by a lessee in administration

  • Lessor terminating a retail lease without notice

  • Is a signed and delivered commercial lease binding in the sublessor has been asked not to sign it?

  • Exercise of Option to Renew by informal email.

This course consists of a 1-hour video recording of a talk by Gary Newton, Partner, HWL Ebsworth, together with reference resources.


Learning outcomes

This course will assist participants to:

  • Understand the implications of recent caselaw in the commercial and retail leasing areas
  • Identify strategies for advising clients with regard to commercial and retail leases.

He advises on a variety of real estate transactions including retail leasing and commercial leasing, both for landlords and tenants, property acquisitions, property developments and sales including residential, commercial, retail and industrial, buying property in Australia, strata, community and neighbourhood title law, property joint ventures, due diligence, finance and structuring, partitions, environment and planning; and general property advice.
