About this course

UTS partners with the Australian Restructuring Insolvency & Turnaround Association (ARITA) to provide the Association’s specialist postgraduate education program, the ARITA Advanced Certification. Complete this comprehensive and innovative nationwide education program to enhance and accelerate your career path in restructuring, insolvency or turnaround.

This short course, Advanced Insolvency, forms the University component of the second subject required for ARITA Advanced Certification.

The next offering of this course is scheduled to commence on Monday 29 July 2024, with enrolments due to open in May 2024.

Course structure

The following content will be covered during the course:

  • The context of corporate and personal insolvency
  • Liquidations
  • Bankruptcy, personal insolvency agreements and debt agreements
  • Receiverships
  • Insolvency and trusts.

 Assessment (UTS component)

  • Problem-based assignment
  • Take-home exam (compulsory pass component)

How to enrol

Course delivery

This course is taught entirely online with no on-campus attendance or official contact hours. Participants should allow 10-12 hours per week to complete the course requirements. This course runs for 12 weeks plus a one-week mid-session break and a one-week study break.

Learning outcomes

On completing this ARITA subject, in addition to the first subject Fundamentals of Restructuring, Insolvency and Turnaround, participants will receive an Advanced Certification in Insolvency from ARITA, and satisfy the education requirements to obtain professional membership of ARITA. Completion of this subject meets the specialist insolvency education requirements to become a registered liquidator or registered trustee.
