Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification

Green Belt Certification raises the idea that improvement work is the continuum of complexity raised from the ‘Just Do It’ scenario. UTS offers a self-driven certification program for Lean Six Sigma Green Belt candidates who are keen to have formal recognition of their ability to devise and execute a small scale Improvement Project within an organisation.

About this course

The Lean Six Sigma Green Belt program is stage one of the Black Belt Program. All the foundational skills for a Black Belt are established. Green Belt involves the full application of the Lean Six Sigma methodology and therefore begins the process of dealing with more complex situations without taking on a Black Belt level type project with full application of the full Improvement Plan, the cycles, all the phases, the practice of Change Management and so on.

The bulk of the elements raised in the Green Belt course are applied.

Course structure

Upon acceptance into the program, you will receive detailed information on assessment criteria and the certification process. This improvement plan must be conducted with approval from a sponsor within the workplace.

At the end of the project, you are to submit a completed report with your project portfolio which will be used for Certification assessment. Satisfactory completion of all requirements will earn Green Belt Certification.

The Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification program fee includes:

  • Written feedback on the sponsor-approved and sponsor-signed Improvement Plan proposal
  • Four one-hour coaching sessions conducted by telephone, web-chat or face-to-face, with timing and method dependent on mutual availability
  • Assessment of one completed Improvement Project portfolio complying with Certification guidelines.

It is possible to complete the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification process within two to three months.

Learning outcomes

Lean Six Sigma Green certification will guide you through the following:

  • Knowledge of the overall methodology and planning tools through application over the whole project.
  • Competence in use of tools through evidence of the outcomes – work samples
  • Practice of engaging with key stakeholders – sponsor, project manager, mentor / coach, team, others as per the evidence in plans and feedback
  • Communicate skills by feedback from team, sponsor, mentor, Project manager + work samples.
  • Successfully achieved outcomes by measures and business impact analysis (does not necessarily have to be only financial results – could be customer measures, process metrics) should show baseline, goal and actual.

The Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification program can only be entered if you have passed the UTS Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Knowledge Assessment. The Knowledge Assessment can be undertaken if you have either:

  • Completed UTS Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
